Couture Creations 2015 Design Team Audition

Hi and thank you for joining me here today...
Today I'm sharing my audition blog post for the Couture Creations Design Team.
Couture Creations is an Aussie brand that creates fabulous dies and embossing folders...

Here are the projects I'd like to share, I hope you enjoy them... They were all created using plenty of dies and embossing folders.

First I have a layout I created "Friends"

To create this layout I used, the Renaissance embossing folder to create the fabulous clock and the Pinstripe and Lovingly Baroque embossing folders to create the layered pieces behind the photo along with the Perforated Mesh die (one of my new favourites)... I also used the Lovingly Baroque embossing folder for the pieces peeking out of the ripped page edges...

To create my flower cluster I used the Ornamental Lace die and folded it to create a more 3D flower along with Swirl Intricutz die.... you can also see the Feather die here and the Swiss Dots embossing folder peeking out from behind the photo...

To create some background texture I used the Artdeco Lace Frame die to create a stencil from the dies packaging (it is coated paper, so can take being washed and used again and again, how awesome is that... you buy a die and with one cut you get a free stencil!)....

Next up I have an oversized tag I created...

I reused that stencil I had created from the Artdeco Lace Frame die to create some background texture... did I mention how much I love texture, lol...

I used the Vintage Dressmaker embossing folder to create the winged dress form, isn't it fabulous. I coloured it up with some metallic wax rub on's and added some of the tiny 2mm Gemstones (also from Couture Creations)...

Again I decorated using the Swirl Intricutz die and a fabric flower...

Next up another layout to share; "Discover and Explore...

After having so much success with the packaging stencil from the first layout, I just had to do it again with the Tied Together die, so much texture fun to be had... Here you can also see the Cappuccino die close up...

I used the World Map embossing folder for some texture behind the Explore die cut... I love these word dies.... I am loving the smaller words for titles at the moment and these dies are the perfect size...

and again I used another section of the World Map embossing folder behind the Discover die cut... here you can also see a peek at the photo mat I created with the Lovingly Baroque embossing folder...

and again I used the Ornamental Lace die and folded it to create a more 3D flower, to be the highlight of my flower cluster...

Next up another layout I created "City Sights"

On this layout I used the Ornamental Lace die, it's such a pretty die... whether you use it flat like I have here or fold it like above to create 3D flower effects, it's just so versatile...

I also create a coupe of tags using the Lovingly Baroque and Pinstripe embossing folders...

for my fifth share, I have a quick card "celebrate"

To create this card I used the Feather die, Perforated Mesh die and the throw away pieces from the Artdeco Lace Frame die... to confess these are the packaging pieces, and because they are coated I could stick them on and spray and ink allover the background and then just clean them off... so easy and quick...

I have included a couple of other layouts.... the first using lots of different dies and the second lots of embossing folders...

I do hope you have enjoyed these projects, you can check out more of the fabulous dies and embossing folders over on the Couture Creations Website, you won't be disappointed.

till next time,
fingers crossed

Canvas Filigrees

Hi everyone, thanks for joining me here today for my third February post for D-lish Scraps. I'd like to share with you some more fun I have had with the Metal Filigrees...

I created a mixed media canvas, using lots of the Metal Filigrees and the Scrap FX Ripples Stencil...

I used Filigree Butterflies, I bent the wings up to achieve a more 3D effect for the canvas...I coloured up the filigree butterflies using ColourArte Silks...

the background texture was created with the Scrap FX Ripples Stencil, and some jump rings along with some metal daisies.... then coloured up using some Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays.... and some Inka Gold for highlights...

The main flower cluster was created by using a Filigree 6 petal flower, along with a couple of Pressed Metal Leaves and Birds nest Charm... and again I coloured these filigree and metal pieces using Silks acrylic glazes...

hope you enjoyed the project... and I hope you've found time to join in the fun over in The Scrap Suite, and remember there is plenty of time to join in the challenges and be in with a chance to win to a prize...

Metal Filigree Fun

Hi everyone, thanks for joining me here today...and welcome to my second post this month for D-lish Scraps .... Today I'd like to share with you a couple of little pieces I have created while playing with some of the Metal Filigree's....

So I was playing around and created a little costume jewellery ring, it's hard to capture how good it looks in real life... unfortunately all the pics I took don't do it justice...

and next up I created a pendant...

For my pendant I used a Filigree Butterfly, and attached it to a miniature garment pin, I bent the butterfly wings forward to create a more dimensional effect.

for the rest of the cluster, I used a resin flower on top of a Filigree Doily and attached a couple of the Pressed Metal Leaves ... I painted up my necklace using Silks acrylic glaze...

As a little bonus I have a step by step on how I created my ring....
This is what you will need, Coloured Wire, Filigree 5 Petal Flower,  a Filigree Flower Centre, and a Mini Metal Flower ...

Step One: you will need to mould your Coloured Wire around something that is the proper size for finger.... I found the top of my Lindys stamp Gang spray was a pretty good fit... Note that it is best to round the ends to avoid any sharp edges to pinch your finger...

Step Two: snip the five petal filigree along each petal close to the centre... this allows you to lap the petals over one another and bend them up slightly...

Step Three: using a strong metal adhesive, (I used E6000) adhere the wire ring to the flower centre, this creates a base to attach our main flower ...

Step Four: next attach the main flower and allow to completely dry before continuing..
Once dry turn over and attach the mini metal flower in the centre...
Step Five: paint with Silks Acrylic Glaze in the colours of your choice..

One last pic.... the ring got the seal of approval from Henri!!  He photo bombed my pics several time, so I thought I'd share...

Hope you are joining us this weekend over in The Scrap Suite for the cybercrop... And don't forget that D-lish Scraps is having a design team call at the moment...it's a fabulous team to be on, I have loved every minute of it... I can't recommend it highly enough...

D-lish Scraps - love

Hi everyone, thanks for joining me here today...it's my turn to post over on the D-lish Scraps blog and I'd like to share with you a layout I created .... "love"

These are just a few of the pics I took in Vietnam of some of the gorgeous orchids...

To help create this layout, I used one of the fabulous monochrome mini kits... these kits have so much stuff in them... they are fabulous and make it so easy to create with...
In this pic you can see the coloured doily, on which I embossed the centre and inked the edge, before layering up some washi tape (not included in the kit) and some of the wordfetti from the kit...

Here you can see the background texture I created using the fabulous Chevron stencil from Scrap FX... this is an A4 stencil and one of my all time favourites...  In addition to the fabulous background texture, you can see the sequins, resin flower, hydrangea petals and coloured wire all from the Monochrome mini kit.... I did add some silver pearls to my flowers...

I coloured up the wood veneer frame with some Inka Gold and then roughed it up with a sanding block and added some of the bakers twine to it... I sat the frame on the mini paper bag and some coloured tulle (not included in the kit)...

One last pic to show more of my textured background,  more wordfetti and more of my tendrils I created with the coloured wire....

Well tonight is the start of the cybercrop over in The Scrap Suite, I hope you can join us there for loads of inspiration, fun and challenges...

Charms of Italy

Hi everyone, thanks for joining me here today...
Today I'd like to share with you all a layout I created for Scrap FX "Charms of Italy"

This photo is at Juliet's house in Verona.... and I am mailing my letter to Juliet... such a fun memory captured...

I painted the new "Charms of Italy" title with a very thin coat of the Prima platinum crackle texture paste... I applied it very thin so that I had the colour and sheen but it wouldn't crackle...

I used the new Travel Stencil with some distress ink to create a page border and as accents on the page... I created some texture using the platinum crackle texture paste through the Petal Pattern Stencil...  doesn't the paste look fabulous through the stencil... and because Scrap FX stencils have that extra thickness there is enough crackle paste to work and crack wonderfully...

a couple more close ups of the stencilled border.... subtle but I think effective...

I hope you enjoyed this project

Bright Spark

Hi everyone, thanks for joining me here today...
It's my turn today over on the Scrap FX blog, and I'd like to share with you all a canvas I created "Bright Spark"

I love this quote from Walt Disney.... "if you can dream it, you can do it".... a bit of a mantra for me this year...

I used the newly released Travel Stencil.... as I wanted to show that it's not just for travel... it has so many uses, for my canvas I used the words, play and discover with modelling paste and coloured them with a Stampers big brush pen...
I coloured the "Bright Spark" wordlet with Wink of Stella and Wink of Luna pens... I have only recently started playing with these, but love how they cover the chipboard and give great shine and sheen...

I used the dual stencil technique with the Petal Pattern Stencil and Circle Stencil to create some texture on the background of the canvas...if you don't know the technique here's a link to a tutorial I did....
Next up I coloured it all up with Gelatos... and gave it a coat of gel medium, this helps seal the gelatos from any moisture or spills ...

I used the 'love' light bulb from the Light Bulbs Pack, along with the Cogs Light Bulb .... and the Industrial Globes...  I coloured these up in the same way as the title...
