Art and Soul Challenge Mood Board....

Hi everyone, today I have created a journal page to play along with the current mood board challenge... it's your last chance to get your entries in, the current challenge closes at the end of the month...
I was drawn both to the colour palette of the challenge and the requirement of adding a flower....
I took this literally and did one big flower...

Normally, I would have a process video to share with you all... however, I have fractured my ankle and can't sit under my desk and film at the moment... so instead I have a photo step by step...

so I began by wetting down my page with paintbrush and water

I applied Aqua Green, Turquoise and White Marabu Crayons to the wet page... and used the wet brush to blend and smooth the colours together...

I used a jar to draw a partial circle in the corner of the page... and coloured it with the Cocoa Marabau Crayon.... I blended the crayon with my fingers...

I sketched out the basic flower petals with the white Marabau crayon...

Next I began to colour in the petals using  Rose Pink....

and added some Raspberry for colour variation..

then I coloured the rear petals using Raspberry...

I used both White and Lavender to add highlights to the petals....

I added Terracotta over the centre in a circular motion so as to leave some of the dark showing through...

Next, add some Gold over the Terracotta again in a circular motion leaving the lower layers showing through....

I added Orange highlights, and Plum shadows to the petals to create depth...

to finish off.... I added more White highlights to the petals and the flower centre, then I used my Stabilo All pencil to deepen the shaded areas...

the finished piece...

now here are the mood board rules again...

Cactus Sunset Alcohol Ink Painting

Hi everyone, I'm back with you today to share my latest piece for Art and Soul Studio, an alcohol ink painting on Yupo which I have called "Cactus Sunset"

I have been wanting to have another play with alcohol inks on Yupo paper since I had so much fun doing the Autumn Stream piece in June... For those that aren't aware Yupo paper is plastic paper and is great for not only alcohol inks but also for watercolours and professional printing too...
It was fabulous to paint on with the alcohol inks and if you have the opportunity I would definitely say have a go at it... you can't ruin it using alcohol inks... cause you can just use Isopropyl alcohol and clean it all off and start again!!! Even if remains stained it's still useable... As you will see in the video below, I begin with a previously experimented on piece of Yupo...

I have made a time lapse video of my process for you all... so grab a cuppa and enjoy...

here's a couple of close ups...

hope you enjoyed seeing my process,
