White with One December Challenge - Banana

As I have had a few days off from my regular teaching, I decided to have a go at one of the challenges on offer this month.... looking at a few of the challenge blogs around, I found a challenge that would really push me over at White with 1.... their December challenge was Banana!!
Those of you that know me, know I do not like to scrap with yellow, I do not like yellow near most of my photo's, I find that more often than not it alters the colour look of skin and makes your photo's look pasty....   So Banana! that was surely going to be a challenge....
I struggled at first, but then finally found my groove and a photo to take charge and not be outdone by the strong Banana colour....

So here is my take on the White with 1 challenge....

The photo is from a teaching trip in Vietnam back in 2011.... one of those traditional pics that if you're lucky you can get over there... usually very early in the morning you can find the locals carting their goods to sell...

I had fun creating the background for this layout, using a couple of the great Scrap FX stencils with some impasto and gesso... Also used the great new chicken wire foam stamp (Scrap FX) along with some Dylusions spray (Pure Sunshine).....

Here you can see the detail created using the urban and the scribble script stencils along with the subtle chicken wire stamping in the background...

The title embellishments are from a Scrap FX theme pack...

Hope you liked my take on the challenge

Products used:
Scrap FX: Chicken Wire Stamp
Scrap FX: Urban Stencil
assorted Prima Flowers
Dylusions Spray: Pure Sunshine
Gesso and Impasto

Till next time,
Happy New Year to all

Some Scrap FX Santa Fun

Hi everyone, just sharing a last minute Christmas layout with you all.... I really wanted to use this fun Chrissy photo of me and my girlfriend with Santa....

I started with plain cardstock and created the background using embossing powders, gesso and paint...

I had fun with the Scrap FX Christmas Word Tree Stamp, doesn't it look great?!
I love how easy to use the Scrap FX stamps are and how affordable they are for the size of them... they stamp so well no matter what medium you use with them... just love them...

I just had to use the Scrap FX Sitting on Santas Knee.... just perfect for the photo...

used some Petaloo flowers to finish the layout off...

Scrap FX Products used to create this layout:
Sitting on Santas Knee Model: 2006261
Christmas Word Tree Stamp Model: 2013248

As the year draws to a close, I would like to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and A Happy and Safe New Year.

Till next time

A Project for Scrapbookit

Hi everyone, time to share with you another project I created for Scrapbookit ....  this time around a tiled front page for those Chrissy Albums

I created the tiles using chipboard covered in the Silver & Gold Bo Bunny Christmas range
for the base of the layout I used Co-ordinations Core Color Cardstocks and another of the papers from the gorgeous Silver & Gold Bo Bunny Christmas range.

Of course you can get all of these great papers from Jo over at Scrapbookit

I created the title using the Scrap FX title Spirit of  Christmas, and covered/coloured this with the  sparkle n soft shining emerald, to give it a velvety sparkle finish.

The flowers are carefully separated Green Tara flowers, as there were only two green flowers in the pack, it's a great way to make them spread further and also to get different sizes for your projects...

I created the rosettes using this gorgeous gathered gold metallic ribbon that Jo stocks.... great for creating rosette flowers, so quick and easily... teamed the ribbon up with some scraps of lace for the centres with a gold pearl brad.... and to create the rosette, I added a gold double ended tassel...

I hope you are all working on your Scrapbookit December challenge projects, (full details can be found here) I can't wait to see what you come up with...

Till next time

A Scrap FX layout to share

Thought I would share a layout I had loads of fun creating using nearly all of my favourite supplies:
Scrap FX chipboard and stencil, Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays, Modelling Paste, Gesso, Viva decor Precious Metal Colour

The photo is of me at age nineteen months, sitting on the fence of the house my family was living in at the time

Scrapbookit December Challenge

Hi today I want to share with you my take on the December Page Challenge by Scrapbookit,  set by their guest designer, Amanda Francis (if you want to learn more about Amanda and the December Challenge click here

So here is what I came up with for the Challenge

So I made plenty of use with the spray portion of the challenge, using the Dylusion sprays, in postbox red and pure sunshine, continually layering up the colours until I got the look and depth I was happy with.
I sprayed the Dylusions over my background created on Kaiser cardstock with the Scrap FX Petal Pattern Stencil  Impasto and Gesso (the paint part of the challenge)...

I painted the Scrap FX Christmas title red and the applied Sparkle n Soft (cherry sparkle), the photo doesn't do it justice... it doesn't show the texture and hints of glitter very well... it looks fantastic in real life....

I made use of the two red flowers that came in the Green Tara pack Jo sent me.... I carefully pulled the flowers apart so that I had six flowers from the two... I used some red Kaiser paint to touch up the glue marks on the middle of the petals... then I used the dots from the DIY thickers pack as flower centers, I covered these with the Gold Glitzin Glamour glitter glue.... I also spread a little of the Glitzin Glamour onto the Flourish with a Bling Flourish, to give it a little bit of sparkle....

Well, I hope you've enjoyed my take on the challenge, and remember you can get all the products I have used from Scrapbookit...

You have until December 30th to email Jo at  joanne@scrapbookit.com.au  with your challenge entry, I look forward to seeing your take on the challenge....

till next time

Scrap FX mood board challenge

Hi today I want to share with you what I created for the latest mood board challenge over at Scrap FX...

But before I do, here is the mood board again and all the deets of the challenge for our chance to win ...

So fun, right??! The boinging rainbow colors can lead to endless creations, plus there are numerous images to be inspired by as well! You may choose to take the quote and run with text, or perhaps some of the patterns speak to you, or maybe even the eye pops out as a starting point for something magnificent. Upload your newly created project to our Facebook page here or leave a blog link on the ScrapFX blog here if you don’t do Facebook (you are more than welcome to do both) so we can check it out.

Deadline: Friday, December 13, 2013 for your chance to win!

DT Challenge: Use Mood Board as inspiration to create a project of any type and use stencils in the creation of project

So without further delay here is the canvas I created for the challenge....
As you can see I used all the colours of the rainbow, the fabulous Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays.... and I had been dying to create a project using the "You colour my world" title.... this seemed like the perfect opportunity...

Here you can see where I used the Random Dot Stencil around the left/bottom edge of the canvas for some added texture...

I used the Moroccan Tile stencil on the top/right of the canvas to create plenty of texture for my rainbow colours.... I have used the Scrap FX barbed wire strands to help finish off this canvas, they are great for male inspired creations ...

Finally I had been wanting to use the new "paper tree black" and it just went so well on this canvas..... such fine detail.... love it!!

Here's what I used to create this project:
Scrap FX:

Lindy's Stamp Gang:
Jack in the Pulpit Teal
Tiger Lily Red Orange
Witch's Potion Purple
Afternoon Delight Denim

Delphinium Turquoise
California Poppy Gold
Rudolph's Nose Red

Well thanks for stopping by, I hope I've help inspire you to have a go at your own rainbow creation and I look forward to seeing what you create...

Scrapbookit DT....yay!!

I'm very excited to be able to share with you all my first creations for Scrapbookit....
First up I have a layout "Red Rock Canyon"
I created this layout using the Graphic 45  Typography collection, now who doesn't love Graphic 45.... along with the Graphic 45 I used some fantastic Scrap FX products (Chevron Stencil, chicken wire, Elm leaf stamp) I love the Scrap FX chicken wire, so many uses....

I also used a distress stain to create all the splats and drips on the layout, as well as to colour the corrugated cardboard and chicken wire.... I finished the layout off with some Kaiser lettering and by altering some of the flowers available from Scrapbookit....

Next up I have an altered project to share...
an alarm clock I altered using more of the Graphic 45 Typography collection, and more of the Scrapbookit flowers, along with some cogs cut from black cardstock

add to this a Scrap FX "moments" mini word to finish it off

Well I hope you've enjoyed these projects and are feeling inspired to create some of your own...
thanks for stopping by and remember you can find all these products over at Scrapbookit
Till next time,

The Latest Scrap FX Mood Board Challenge

So this months challenge is up on the Scrap FX blog.... this month we have a mood  board and sketch for you to create with...

First up the board, prepared by the lovely Claire:
MoodBoardOctober
A bit more masculine in nature this time and neutral in tone. Perfect to go with all the chippies released this month to showcase the guys in our life, but it can also hold other potential with items from nature being present, organic patterns, the possibilities are truly endless with mood boards. All you need is a little creative juice.

Now the sketch:
MoodBoardSketch
A splendid sketch to play with – right? The fantabulous Claire a.k.a Luckie created this beauty also! She is uber talented don’t you think?!

so here is the DT Challenge:
Use the mood board as inspiration to create any type of project
The sketch must be used in the creation of project

So here is my take on the challenge....
I first created a layout just following the sketch, but wasn't happy with the result, a little to neat and simple for my usual style.... so I had another think about it and another look at the sketch... and this is what I came up with...

I started with an oversized spoon as my base....

and proceed to create a mini version of the sketch upon the spoon....
I know a little out there, but haven't you ever just wanted to alter everything insight???...
This is the phase I am going through right now...

I used the Scrap FX  Retro Flourish Frame as my base for the design, used a small doily to fill the void of the frame, and built the sketch from there...
I used the Hexangonal Pattern Stencil on a piece of book page, to tone everything back to the mood board... I then finished the design off with the "love" title from the Scrap FX Words of Love and added some roses, ribbons and trim....

the Scrap FX pieces used to create my altered spoon:

Well I hope that you liked my twist on the latest challenge... and I hope to see you sharing your take on the challenge over on the Scrap FX facebook page....
