Herron Silhouette for Art and Soul Studio

Hi everyone, Cindy here to share with you my latest painting.... a Herron Silhouette

Normally, I would have a process video to share with you all... however, I as I have mentioned in my previous posts I have fractured my ankle and can't sit under my desk and film at the moment... so instead again I have a photo step by step...

I began by painting the watercolour paper with water...
Using a mixer of reds, orange and yellow, I paint the top two thirds of the page.

I continue until it resembles a sunset...

I then paint the remaining third to resemble water...

I continue adding details to the water with more layers of watercolour...

Next I add some clouds to the sky...

 more clouds

I add more depth to the clouds

I add more depth to the water...

Time to sketch out my Herron Silhouette...

 Then paint in the silhouette...

Add details to the silhouette and add some reeds to finish it off...

Art and Soul September Moodboard

Hi everyone, today I have created a journal page to play along with the new mood board challenge...

I was drawn both to the colour palette of the challenge and the requirement of adding a butterfly....
You can find all the details of the challenge and the prizes on offer here....September moodboard

Normally, I would have a process video to share with you all... however, I as I mentioned in my last post I have fractured my ankle and can't sit under my desk and film at the moment... so instead again I have a photo step by step...

so I began by spraying my page with water

I loosely added Ecoline watercolours in Light Orange and Dark Orange to the damp page

I then spritzed some more water to help the Ecoline watercolours move...

Next I left the background to dry...

Once dry I sketched out my image...

then I began to add colour...

and continued to do so, using white Ecoline and Blue Ecoline watercolour...

For the flower centre I mixed white and Bright Yellow Ecoline ....

I then added shading to the flower centre and began painting the body of the butterfly...

The final step was to add shading to the butterfly and flower and add details to the butterfly...

One last look at the completed piece...

I hope you'll be able to join in the challenge this month for your chance to win some fabulous prizes...
